June 13 Meeting Highlights
Grey County Council met on June 13, 2024, in the Council Chamber and virtually on Zoom. The meeting was immediately followed by a session of Committee of the Whole. Recordings of the meetings can be found on Grey County’s YouTube Channel.
County Council
- Council accepted the minutes of the May 23 County Council and Committee of the Whole meetings. Council Committee
- Council accepted the minutes of the May 31 special council meeting from the council tour of County roads. Minutes

Committee of the Whole
- Council heard a delegation from Darlene DeStefano of Solutions for Attainable Living regarding the benefits of additional residential units (ARU) in supporting the creation of more affordable housing. The non-profit organization is requesting grant funding of $25,000-$30,000 from Grey County to support a backyard ARU pilot. Request Presentation
- Council endorsed an energy conservation and demand management plan. This plan reviews the energy performance of County buildings and forecasts future performance. The plan will help Grey meet objectives of Going Green in Grey and comply with provincial requirements. Report
- Council supported a corporate sponsorship policy. Report and Policy
- Council received a high-level overview of an Official Plan Amendment application for a property in Georgian Bluffs known as the Forbes Quarry. The application seeks to increase the designated mineral extraction area on the lands from around 12.5 hectares to around 88 hectares. Council received the report for information and staff will provide an analysis and public commenting process. Report
- Council received a verbal update from staff regarding the status of Bill 185, Cutting Red Tape to Build More Homes Act, 2024. The Province has made some amendments to the proposed act. Grey County has previously submitted comments on the proposed changes.
