COVID-19 Outbreak Declared inRockwood Terrace

Update November 7, 2024 -  Public Health has extended the outbreak to the rest of the home after one positive resident case was identified on the 3rd Floor. All resident areas are now in outbreak. In an effort to prevent further spread, the affected residents, as well as roommates and high-risk contacts, are isolating and being closely monitored. We are working with our Public Health partners and closely monitoring the situation.  

In response, the following steps are in place as we take swift action to halt the spread of the virus: 

  • Increased surveillance, and enhanced infection prevention and control measures.  
  • Infection prevention and control audits, and hand hygiene audits.  
  • All staff are following respiratory outbreak protocols and wearing the appropriate PPE as required. 
  • Home-wide universal masking (surgical mask) has been implemented for all staff and visitors.
  • N95 masks and additional PPE is required when entering an isolation room. 
  • Residents in isolation are limited to 1 Designated Care Partner (DCP).  
  • General visitors are limited to 1 per resident.

The safety and wellbeing of our residents, families, and staff is our focus. As a reminder, please refrain from visiting the home if you are feeling unwell. November 6, 2024 - Public Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak on the 2nd Floor home area at Rockwood Terrace. Test results have confirmed four positive resident cases.
