Grey Road 3 and 4 Roundabout
Grey County is constructing a roundabout at the intersection of Grey Road 3 and Grey Road 4 east of Hanover in the Municipality of West Grey. Below is an overview of the roundabout design.
Background
The intersection of Grey Road 4 and Grey Road 3 in the Municipality of West Grey is well travelled. Many vehicles turn at the intersection daily due to high traffic volumes on these two important routes. Although the intersection meets all current safety design standards, more accidents occur here compared to other intersections in the County. A roundabout is best suited to reduce accidents while improving the comfort and safety for all road users using the intersection.
Through a successful application to the Ontario government’s Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program Rural and Northern Communities Funding Stream, Grey County is partnering with the Federal and Provincial governments to fund this project. The funding breakdown is as follows:
- Federal Government – 50%
- Provincial Government – 33.33%
- Grey County – 16.67%
Public Information Centre
Due to the ongoing pandemic and at the request of the County, a virtual Public Information Centre video is available for your viewing. The video will provide additional information about the project and discuss the numerous safety benefits provided through the use of roundabouts.
How to use a Roundabout
The City of Ottawa has created a helpful video explaining proper driving procedure in roundabouts.
