April 24 Meeting Highlights
Grey County Council met April 24, 2025, in the Grey County Council Chamber and virtually on Zoom. The meeting was immediately followed by a session of Committee of the Whole. A recording of the meeting can be found on the Grey County YouTube Channel.
County Council
- Council accepted the minutes of the April Grey County Council and Committee of the Whole meetings. Council Committee
- Davey Shorey and Steve Lowe of Georgian College addressed Council and thanked the County for ongoing support and partnerships. Georgian College recognized Grey County with a Community Partner award earlier in April.
Committee of the Whole
- Grey County ended 2024 with surplus of $4.4 million. Councill approved a report directed staff to move the remaining funds into various other project reserves. This money will be available to fund projects in the future. Some factors contributing to the surplus include higher than expected new tax revenue from growth, additional funding from the Province for long-term care services and more. Report
- Council approved moving up a construction project on Grey Road 9 from the year 2026 to the 2025 construction season. This project will extend paving work already planned for Grey Road 9 and will reduce the overall cost compared to doing the projects separately. A tender of $458,000 was awarded to Cox Construction Ltd. The project will be funded from the anticipated 2025 construction budget surplus, or the transportation general reserve. Report
- Grey County will provide the City of Owen Sound with $45,000 from the Affordable Housing Reserve Fund to purchase land for affordable housing. Report
- Grey County CAO Kim Wingrove announced Niall Lobley was the successful applicant for the Deputy CAO position. Mr. Lobley has several years of municipal leadership experience and is currently serving as the CAO of the Township of Georgian Bluffs. His first day with Grey County will be May 20. Media Release
- Warden Matrosovs recognized outgoing CAO Kim Wingrove for her 10 years of service to Grey County. Ms. Wingrove’s last day will be Friday, May 2. YouTube
