August 8 Meeting Highlights

Grey County Council met on August 8, 2024, virtually on Zoom. The meeting was immediately followed by a session of Committee of the Whole. Recordings of the meetings can be found on Grey County’s YouTube Channel

County Council

  • Council accepted the minutes of the July 25 Grey County Council and Committee of the Whole meetings.  Council  Committee  

  • Council accepted the minutes of the July 23 Long-Term Care Committee of Management Meeting.  Minutes 

  • Council accepted the minutes of the July 25 Long-Term Care Redevelopment Planning Task Force Meeting.  Minutes

  • Council approved a by-law regarding an agreement for tree marking services with Grey Sauble Conservation Authority. By-Law 

Committee of the Whole 

  • Council heard a delegation from Kate Burns Gallagher, Executive Director of the Western Ontario Wardens’ Caucus (WOWC) about their updated 2024 – 2025 Strategic Priorities. The presentation gave an overview of the WOWC, recently executed advocacy work with governments and local organizations, and an outline of priorities which included housing, infrastructure, workforce, mental health, addictions & homelessness, broadband infrastructure, and economic development.  Presentation  

  • Council received a report regarding the Grey County Paramedic Services Response Time Performance Plan for 2025. The plan outlines the ambulance response time targets within the County for the upcoming 2025 year. Based on the response time performance for 2023 and the first half of 2024, the same targets are recommended for the 2025 year and will be submitted to the Ministry of Health. The report reviewed emergency call volume increases and the 2023 ORH Comprehensive Deployment Review recommendation to implement a 12-hour, seven days a week shift at Feversham in 2025. Staff took direction from Council to work with Grey Highlands municipality to secure suitable land for the planned Feversham base construction in 2025.  Report 

  • Council received a report reviewing the County Official Plan Amendment #8 regarding Parkbridge Christie Beach in the Municipality of Meaford to redesignate approximately 135 hectares of land to ‘Recreational Resort Settlement Area’ and ‘Hazard Lands’ to facilitate the construction of what Parkbridge Lifestyle Communities Inc. describes as a resource-based recreation development with a mix of recreational, community, residential, commercial uses, public parks and trails, a public community centre, and a Village Centre.
