COVID-19 Outbreak Declared at Grey Gables

Over the weekend, Public Health declared a COVID-19 outbreak on the Valley View home area at Grey Gables. There are currently six residents who are experiencing respiratory symptoms. One test result has returned identifying the infectious agent as COVID-19 with five results pending. There is also one resident experiencing respiratory symptoms on Pine Ridge and we are working with our Public Health partners and closely monitoring the situation. The affected residents are isolating and receiving care.
Enhanced infection control protocols are in place as we take swift action to halt the spread of the virus. In response, we are taking the following steps:
- Increased surveillance, and enhanced infection prevention and control measures including audits and hand hygiene audits.
- All staff are following respiratory outbreak protocols and wearing the appropriate PPE as required.
- Universal masking (surgical mask) has been implemented for all staff and visitors on the Valley View and Pine Ridge home areas.
- Surgical mask or N95 masks is required when entering an isolation room.
- Personal Protective Equipment signage is posted at the resident’s room.
- Residents in isolation are limited to 1 Designated Care Partner (DCP).
- General visitors are limited to 1 per resident on the Valley View home area.
