COVID-19 Outbreak Declared Over at Grey Gables

On July 22, Public Health declared the COVID-19 outbreak over on the Pine Ridge home area at Grey Gables.
After promptly identifying the symptoms, our team quickly implemented the necessary infection prevention and control measures and was able to contain the outbreak and reduce the risk of spread. We are grateful for their commitment to protecting the health of our residents and to Grey Bruce Public Health for their role in managing the outbreak.

On July 14, Public Health declared a COVID-19 outbreak on the Pine Ridge home area at Grey Gables. There are currently two residents who have been confirmed COVID-19 positive. In an effort to prevent further spread, the affected residents, as well as roommates and high-risk contacts, are isolating and being closely monitored.
We are working with our Public Health partners and closely monitoring the situation. Enhanced infection control protocols are in place as we take swift action to halt the spread of the virus.
In response, we are taking the following steps:
- Increased surveillance, and enhanced infection prevention and control measures.
- Infection prevention and control audits, and hand hygiene audits.
- All staff are following respiratory outbreak protocols and wearing the appropriate PPE as required.
- All staff and visitors on the Pine Ridge home area are required to wear surgical masks and eye protection. N95 masks are required when entering an isolation room.
- General visitors are limited to 1 per resident on Pine Ridge
- Residents in isolation are limited to 1 DCP.
- Group activities continue for well residents. 1:1 activities are taking place with those who are in isolation.
