COVID-19 Outbreak Declared over Rockwood Terrace

Update November 18, 2024
On November 18 Public Health declared the home-wide COVID-19 outbreak over at Rockwood Terrace. We would like to thank our team members for their continued dedication to the safety and well-being of our residents, and we truly appreciate the support from our designated care partners and families. Grey Bruce Public Health were valuable contributors to the management of the outbreak, and we are thankful for their guidance and assistance.

The safety of our residents, families, and staff remains our primary focus, and we will continue with regular infection prevention and control audits and hand hygiene audits. With various respiratory viruses circulating in the community, we would like to remind you that all three Grey County homes remain mask friendly. Please refrain from visiting the home if you are feeling unwell for any reason. If you require additional information, please contact the home at 519-369-6035.

Update November 7, 2024 -  Public Health has extended the outbreak to the rest of the home after one positive resident case was identified on the 3rd Floor. All resident areas are now in outbreak. In an effort to prevent further spread, the affected residents, as well as roommates and high-risk contacts, are isolating and being closely monitored. We are working with our Public Health partners and closely monitoring the situation.

In response, the following steps are in place as we take swift action to halt the spread of the virus:

  • Increased surveillance, and enhanced infection prevention and control measures.
  • Infection prevention and control audits, and hand hygiene audits.
  • All staff are following respiratory outbreak protocols and wearing the appropriate PPE as required.
  • Home-wide universal masking (surgical mask) has been implemented for all staff and visitors.
  • N95 masks and additional PPE is required when entering an isolation room.
  • Residents in isolation are limited to 1 Designated Care Partner (DCP).
  • General visitors are limited to 1 per resident.

The safety and wellbeing of our residents, families, and staff is our focus. As a reminder, please refrain from visiting the home if you are feeling unwell. If your loved one is affected, a team member will reach out to you with an update directly. If you require additional information, please contact the home at 519-369-6035.
