COVID-19 Outbreak at Lee Manor Declared Over
Update: January 22, 2022
Today, we are pleased to report that Grey Bruce Public Health has declared the COVID-19 Outbreak over at Lee Manor. We would like to thank Grey Bruce Public Health for their assistance in managing the outbreak. It has been a challenging time for residents, families, staff and the community as we managed and contained the respiratory and COVID-19 outbreaks. The tireless efforts have been remarkable, and I thank you for your dedication and commitment.
Community transmission and the increase in cases locally is concerning. Our focus continues to be the safety of our residents, families, and staff. Infection prevention and control measures remain in place and as a precaution we will be adding additional layers of protection.
- Hand Hygiene Audits
- Clinical staff will start administering 4th dose booster to consented residents.
- Designated Care Partners resume to two (2) DCPs per resident visit for all wings.
- Cohorted small group programs (limited to 10)
- All general visits (indoor, outdoor and window) are suspended
Effective January 24th
- Daily Rapid Antigen Testing for all staff, students, support workers, volunteers and Designated Care Partners.
- Staff and Designated Care Partners will wear N95 Masks and additional PPE as required.
We continue to be vigilant and monitor the COVID-19 staff cases that were not related to the outbreak. Additional test results received have identified 2 new staff cases, we currently have a total of 9 active staff cases; 7 resolved.
The teamwork has been amazing, and we are truly blessed. We also acknowledge our healthcare partners for offering their assistance and providing additional resources. Together, we worked to ensure our residents continued to receive high quality care.

The majority of 3 South resident test results from January 18th are still pending. The situation on 3 South remains the same as yesterday.

We are pleased to share that the remaining active resident case is now resolved. A small number of test results from January 15th are still outstanding and we have contacted the lab. January 18th results for 3 South residents are also pending.

We have received the remaining test results from January 12th; all negative. All resident test results from January 15th have returned negative with 8 staff results pending. We are pleased to share that one resident case is now resolved.

We have received a few lab test results and they have returned negative. The majority of the January 15th PCR testing are pending. Rapid and PCR testing continues in the home to help us quickly identify and manage new cases of COVID-19 in residents or staff.

Staffing remains at a stable level thanks to the ongoing dedication of our caring Lee Manor team. We appreciate everyone who is stepping up and taking extra shifts to ensure our residents continue to receive high quality care.

We have received confirmation that an additional staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. This case is not linked to the outbreak and brings us to a total of 5 active staff cases not associated with the outbreak.

Vaccine clinics are continuing onsite to support 3rd dose booster for staff and designated care partners who are eligible. Work is underway for 4th dose boosters for eligible residents. COVID-19 numbers remain high in the community and we encourage everyone to get vaccinated and boosted as you are eligible. Also, don’t forget the 3 Ws: Wash your hands frequently; Watch your distance (ideally 6 feet); and, Wear masks correctly.
We have recruited additional team members to support screening roles at the home. Training was provided to Grey County's redeployed staff as part of our emergency planning. We are grateful for the staff that have quickly volunteered their services to support our residents, families, and team members. We appreciate and thank them for their help.

We continue to manage the ongoing COVID-19 and Respiratory outbreaks in the home. We are grateful for the support of staff and our caring Designated Care Partners who are providing assistance during this challenging time.
We have the following information to share.
COVID-19 Outbreak on 3 South
- 1 additional resident has tested positive
- 2 resident cases active; 0 resident cases resolved
- 1 new staff case
- 5 staff cases active; (2 cases linked to 3 South Outbreak)
- January 8 PCR testing results are still pending
- Staffing levels remain stable
Due to the size of the home, we have implemented our emergency management protocols to ensure we continue delivering the quality care our residents deserve. As part of the protocols, our leadership team at Lee Manor has been divided into two teams to ensure we have senior leadership on site seven days a week. Tolleen Parkin will be leading the outbreak and Susan Torrie will be ensuring continuity of operations. In addition to being a Registered Nurse, Tolleen has experience as an Executive Director in long-term care, Tolleen has also achieved her Infection Prevention and Control Certificate from the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen’s University.
Respiratory Outbreak on 2 South
- 0 additional resident cases
- 2 resident cases are active; 9 resident cases resolved
- 0 new staff cases
- 1 staff case is active
We continue to work closely with our partners at public health. The safety and wellbeing of our residents and our staff remains our priority. We will continue to provide daily updates throughout the COVID-19 outbreak.
We have received confirmation that five staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. In addition, one resident on 3 South has also tested positive. Public Health has declared a COVID-19 Outbreak for 3 South. No other residents on 3 South are showing symptoms at this time.
We have the following information to share.
- The resident who tested positive is in isolation and receiving care.
- All residents on 2 South were swabbed on January 4th and 3 South residents have been swabbed on January 4th and 8th; January 8th results are still pending.
- All staff that tested positive have been self isolating.
- In room meal service has been implemented for all residents on 3 South.
- All staff on 3 South have transitioned to N95 masks.
- Limit of 1 DCP per resident visit (2 South and 3 South home areas)
- DCPs will be provided with an N95 mask for each visit on 3 South. The most appropriate size will be provided until formal mask fit testing can be offered.
- General visits remain suspended for all floors.
- Virtual visits can be arranged for all residents.
- Essential visitors are still permitted (palliative or critically ill).

- 3 resident cases are active; 8 resident cases are resolved.
