Support from Designated Care Partners (DCPs)
Staffing in the home continues to be strained. We have activated our staffing contingency plans and are grateful for the added assistance DCPs play in the ongoing care of residents. Mealtimes are especially challenging as we provide in-room dining during the isolation period. If you are a DCP it would be immensely helpful if you could consider visiting your loved one over a mealtime to provide some extra support.

We realize entering a home in outbreak can be concerning, but we take the health and safety of our DCPs seriously. N95 masks and face shields are available to all DCPs upon entering the home and should be worn at all times to ensure adequate protection.
We are blessed to have such a dedicated care support team in the home. Thank you to all our DCPs, staff, and care partners for their ongoing devotion during this difficult time.

Updated December 24, 2:30 p.m.

We are now aware of 9 residents and 3 staff who have tested positive for the virus. About a dozen tests are still outstanding.

We have reached out to the Power of Attorney (POA) for each resident who has tested positive. We will post another updated as quickly as possible when all tests have been reported.

Further responses to protect our residents and workforce
With the increasing number of positive cases in the home and our community in general, we are increasing response measures to protect our residents and staff. The following responses are now in motion:

  • All residents of the second floor remain in isolation.
  • Residents of the 2nd floor who have received a negative result will be PCR tested every 3 days.
  • All remaining residents and staff in the home will be PCR tested today or tomorrow.
  • Tray service is being provided to all residents for in-room dining.
  • Staff are switching to N95 masks on the second floor, and when caring for residents in isolation on 3rd Floor.
  • DCPs will be provided with an N95 mask for each visit (all floor). The most appropriate size will be provided until formal mask fit testing can be offered.
  • General visits (in-home, outdoor and window) are suspended. Virtual visits are still being offered.
  • Limit of 1 DCP per resident visit (all floors)

It is critical we use the tools we have to protect our residents and our workforce at this critical time.  We are also implementing enhanced visiting restrictions at our other County homes (Grey Gables and Lee Manor) to increase protection of our staff so contingency support is available is needed.

We continue to work closely with our partners at public health and the safety and wellbeing of our residents and our staff remains our priority.

Thank you for your patience and understanding at this difficult time. We promise to keep you informed as we work contain the outbreak.
