February 22 Council Highlights

Grey County Council met on February 22, 2024, in the Council Chamber and virtually on Zoom. The meeting was immediately followed by a session of Committee of the Whole. Recordings of the meetings can be found on Grey County’s YouTube Channel.

County Council

  • Council accepted the minutes of the February 8 Grey County Council and Committee of the Whole meetings.  Council  Committee
  • Council received a delegation regarding speeding on Grey Road 31 in the community of Rob Roy. Resident Peter MacGowan presented the residents’ concerns and requested the speed limit be dropped to 60 km/hr at the crest of the hills to the east and west of Rob Roy. County staff provided rationale for the current speed limits. Committee of the Whole

  • Council heard a presentation about bioenergy from Jason Moretto of Envest Corp. Envest is an energy company that delivers sustainable solutions to communities through activities such as source separated organics recycling and green energy production. Mr. Moretto informed County Council of Envest’s development of Southgate Renewables in the Dundalk industrial park, an anaerobic digestor project capable of processing 73,000 tonnes of organic residuals per year.  Presentation
  • Council approved an easement to Hydro One at the Alpha Street housing location in Owen Sound.  Report
  • Staff presented Council with options to reduce Grey Transit Route (GTR) service levels to realign with available grant funding. Council voted to withdraw County levy funding for the GTR in the 2024 budget. To bring operating costs down, all weekend GTR service will end at the end of April 2024 and the Owen Sound to Wiarton route will be discontinued after Labour Day. In addition, routes will see some stop locations removed. GTR service will continue at the current level until the end of April. Report
