In recent years, farmland values have increased at a faster pace than residential properties, shifting more of the municipal tax burden to famers. The delegation asked council to consider lowering the tax rate further (currently 24% of the residential rate) so famers would pay closer to 3% of the overall levy which they have historically paid.
