Public Health has declared a COVID-19 Outbreak at Grey Gables. Today, we received confirmation of three positive resident results on Maple Lane, and the home area is now operating in outbreak protocols. I am saddened to report one resident who was COVID-19 positive has passed away. This resident had recently moved into the home and was still isolating. We at Grey County long-term care extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends. Our thoughts are with them, and others in the community, who have lost loved ones to COVID-19.

Enhanced infection control protocols are in place, as we take swift action to halt the spread of the virus. We are working closely with our Public Health partners, and the safety and wellbeing of our residents and staff is our highest priority.

In response, we are taking the following steps:

  • The two residents who tested positive are isolating and are receiving care.
  • We have isolated other residents of Maple Lane as a precaution.
  • We will be testing all residents living on Maple Lane for COVID-19 with a PCR test today.
  • All staff and DCPs that were on Maple Lane since January 31st, will be PCR tested today and tomorrow.
  • In room meal service has been implemented for all residents of Maple Lane.
  • Leadership team is on site 7 days a week to provide support.
  • Only 1 Designated Care Partner visit at a time per resident visit on Maple Lane.
  • Essential visitors (resident is critically ill or palliative) are still permitted.
  • General visits remain suspended.

Thank you for your patience and understanding at this difficult time. We promise to keep you informed as we work to contain the outbreak.
