Grey Gables Respiratory Outbreak Declared Over - Maple Lane Home Area
October 10, 2023 - The respiratory outbreak on the Maple Lane home area at Grey Gables has been declared over. We thank our team members for their continued dedication to the safety and well-being of our residents. We truly appreciate the support from our designated care partners and families and are thankful for the assistance of Grey Bruce Public Health in managing the outbreak.
The safety of our residents, families, and staff remains our primary focus, and we will continue with the following protocols:
- Regular infection prevention and control audits
- Hand hygiene audits
- Our home is mask friendly and remains a safe and inclusive environment, where everyone’s choice to wear a mask is respected.

September 29, 2023 - Public Health has declared a respiratory outbreak on the Maple Lane home area at Grey Gables. There are currently six residents experiencing respiratory symptoms. They are isolating and receiving care. Roommates and high-risk contacts are being closely monitored. The residents have been tested for COVID-19, as well as other respiratory viruses. One rapid antigen test result has returned positive for COVID-19, with additional test results pending.
We are working with our Public Health partners and closely monitoring the situation. Outbreak protocols and the following enhancements are in place to help manage the outbreaks:

Increased surveillance and enhanced infection prevention and control measures.

Infection prevention and control audits, and hand hygiene audits.

All staff are following respiratory outbreak protocols and wearing appropriate PPE as required.

Universal masking is in place on the affected area. N95 masks have been implemented for all staff and visitors on the Maple Lane home area.

General visitors are limited to 1 per resident on Maple Lane.

Residents in isolation are limited to 1 Designated Care Partner.
