Grey Gables Respiratory Outbreak Declared Over March 22

Update march 22, 2023 -  We are pleased to report that the Respiratory Outbreak on the Pine Ridge home area at Grey Gables has been declared over. We would like to thank Grey Bruce Public Health for their assistance in managing the outbreak. The teamwork at Grey Gables has been remarkable, and we thank the team for their dedication and commitment. The team quickly identified symptoms and prevented further spread using ongoing infection prevention and control measures.

We continue to focus on the safety of our residents, families, and staff. As a precaution, we will continue with the following protocols:

• Regular infection prevention and control audits
• Hand hygiene audits
• Daily screening and rapid antigen testing for all staff, students, support workers, volunteers, designated care partners, and indoor visitors.

The safety and wellbeing of our residents, families, and staff is our focus. As a reminder, please refrain from visiting the home if you are feeling unwell. On March 14, Public Health has declared a respiratory outbreak on the Pine Ridge home area at Grey Gables. There are currently three residents experiencing respiratory symptoms who are isolating and receiving care. Symptomatic residents have been tested for COVID-19 and other respiratory illness and results are pending. 

We are working with our Public Health partners and monitoring the situation closely. The home has activated their outbreak protocols and the following enhancements are in place to help manage the outbreak:

• Increased surveillance, and enhanced infection prevention and control measures.
• Infection prevention & control audits, and hand hygiene audits.
• Residents of Pine Ridge have been cohorted to that home area.
