Grey Roots to Host Local Premiere of The Hyperborean
Grey Roots Museum and Archives’ Fright Night on October 23rd features the Grey County premiere of The Hyperborean, Collingwood Film Co.’s latest horror-comedy. Filmed in the Owen Sound area, The Hyperborean has won accolades worldwide, including nominations in the Canadian Screen Awards. Following the film, director Jesse Thomas Cook, and star Liv Collins take the stage for a special Q&A session.
In The Hyperborean, a seasoned crisis manager navigates a failing whiskey company through a PR disaster involving Arctic ice mummies, intergalactic moonshine, and murder. Infused with the horror and campy humour seen in Collingwood Film Company’s other features including Cult Hero and The Hoard, The Hyperborean adds sci-fi and family drama to the mix for a truly unique cinematic experience.
Grey Roots introduced Fright Nights, a Halloween experience for grownups, in 2023. The focus is on films produced or filmed locally. Discussions with cast and crew are a planned part of the program. The evening features a licensed bar and snacks.
The Hyperborean screens in the Thomas Wheildon Theatre at Grey Roots for one night only on Wednesday, October 23 at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 + HST, with a 10% discount for Grey Roots members. Tickets on sale now at greyroots.com. For mature audiences only. Seating is limited – advance purchase is highly recommended.
