March 28 Meeting Highlights
Grey County Council met on March 28, 2024, in the Council Chamber and virtually on Zoom. The meeting was immediately followed by a session of Committee of the Whole. Recordings of the meetings can be found on Grey County’s YouTube Channel.
County Council
- Council accepted the minutes of the March 14 County Council and Committee of the Whole meetings. Council Committee
- Council accepted the minutes of the March 12 Long-Term Care Committee of Management meeting. Minutes
- Council received the minutes of the March 13 CAO Evaluation Committee meeting. Minutes
- Council received the minutes of the January 26 Board of Health meeting. Dr. Ian Arra spoke to 2023 opioid statistics, noting opioid deaths were lower than 2021 but similar than 2022. Harm reduction work continues. Dr. Arra also spoke of about 9 reported cases of Measles in Ontario but no cases in Grey Bruce so far. Minutes
- Grey County Community Paramedic Teresa Tibbo was presented with the 2023 Medical Directors Award of Excellence by doctors from the Southwest Regional Base Hospital medical council. Teresa shows great commitment and compassion when providing care to individuals experiencing homelessness and to patients dealing with mental health and addiction challenges. Media Release
Committee of the Whole
- Council received an update about Bruce Power from Jame Scongack, Chief Development Officer and Executive Vice-President. Mr. Scongack spoke about Bruce Power’s role in powering Ontario’s growth, medical isotopes and the Bruce C project. Mr. Scongack also answered councillors’ questions about ways Grey County and Bruce Power can work together for the benefit of the region. Presentation
- Council received the updated 2024-2027 Corporate Strategic Plan. Titled Working Together for Success, the plan builds on Grey County’s belief that residents are best served through collaboration and coordination of municipal services. Report Strategy Media Release
