Respiratory Outbreak Declared on 1 South Home Area at Lee Manor

Today, October 28th, we are pleased to report that Public Health has declared the respiratory outbreak over on the 1 South home area at Lee Manor. We would like to thank our team members for their continued dedication to the safety and well-being of our residents. Additionally, we extend our appreciation to our designated care partners and families for their unwavering support. Grey Bruce Public Health were valuable contributors to the management of the outbreak, and we are thankful for their guidance and assistance.
With various respiratory viruses circulating in the community, we would like to remind you that all three Grey County homes remain mask friendly, and masks are available at the entrance.
The safety of our residents, families, and staff remains our primary focus, and we will continue with regular infection prevention and control audits and hand hygiene audits. Yesterday, October 14th, Public Health declared a respiratory outbreak on the 1 South home area at Lee Manor. There are currently eight residents experiencing respiratory symptoms. Test results have returned identifying two resident cases with confirmed Rhinovirus (common cold), one resident confirmed as COVID-19, with test results pending. The affected residents are isolating and receiving care. In an effort to prevent further spread, roommates and high-risk contacts are being closely monitored.
We are working with our Public Health partners and closely monitoring the situation. Enhanced infection control protocols are in place as we take swift action to halt the spread of the virus. In response, we are taking the following steps:
- Increased surveillance, and enhanced infection prevention and control measures including audits, and hand hygiene audits.
- All staff are following respiratory outbreak protocols and wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
- Universal masking (surgical mask) has been implemented for all staff and visitors on the 1 South home area.
- Surgical masks or N95 masks are required when entering an isolation room.
- PPE signage is posted at the resident’s room.
- Residents in isolation are limited to 1 Designated Care Partner (DCP).
- General visitors are limited to 1 per resident on the 1 South home area.
