Respiratory outbreak declared at Grey Gables

On April 8, Public Health declared a respiratory outbreak on the Maple Lane and Valley View home areas at Grey Gables. There are currently eight residents experiencing respiratory symptoms, with test results pending. The symptomatic residents are isolating and receiving care. We are working with our Public Health partners and closely monitoring the situation.

Enhanced infection control protocols are in place and the following steps have been implemented:

• Increased surveillance, and enhanced infection prevention and control measures including audits and hand hygiene audits.
• All staff are following respiratory outbreak protocols and wearing the appropriate PPE as required.
• Home wide universal masking (surgical mask) has been implemented for all staff and visitors.
• Residents in isolation are limited to 1 Designated Care Partner (DCP).
