Respiratory Outbreak Declared at Lee Manor

On January 12th, Public Health declared the respiratory outbreak over at Lee Manor. We thank our team members for their dedication to the safety and well-being of residents, and we appreciate the support of our designated care partners and families. We also thank Grey Bruce Public Health for their guidance and support in managing the outbreak.

The safety and wellbeing of our residents, families, and staff is our focus. With various respiratory viruses circulating in the community, Lee Manor will continue with universal masking (surgical masks) at this time. Public Health declared the respiratory outbreak over on the 2 North home area at Lee Manor.

As a reminder, the respiratory outbreak remains active on the 3 South home area and the following protocols remain in place:

  • Increased surveillance, and enhanced infection prevention and control measures including audits, and hand hygiene audits.
  • All staff are following respiratory outbreak protocols and wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Home wide universal masking (surgical mask) remains in place for all staff and visitors.
  • Residents in isolation are limited to 1 Designated Care Partner (DCP).
  • General visitors are limited to 1 per resident on the 3 South home area.

Updated January 2, 2025

On January 2 Public Health declared a respiratory outbreak on the 2 North home area. There are currently three residents experiencing respiratory symptoms. One test result has returned identifying Rhinovirus (similar to the common cold) as the infectious agent, with test results pending. The affected residents are isolating and receiving care. In an effort to prevent further spread, roommates and high-risk contacts are being closely monitored. We are working with our Public Health partners and closely monitoring the situation. 

As a reminder, the respiratory outbreak remains active on the 3 South home area and the following protocols remain in place:

  • Increased surveillance, and enhanced infection prevention and control measures including audits, and hand hygiene audits.
  • All staff are following respiratory outbreak protocols and wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Home wide universal masking (surgical mask) has been implemented for all staff and visitors.
  • Surgical masks or N95 masks are required when entering an isolation room.
    • PPE signage is posted at the resident’s room.
  • Residents in isolation are limited to 1 Designated Care Partner (DCP).
  • General visitors are limited to 1 per resident on the 2 North and 3 South home areas.

On December 29 a respiratory outbreak was declared on the 3 South home area at Lee Manor. At the time there were seven residents experiencing symptoms and test results have identified Rhinovirus and Enterovirus. The effected residents are isolating and receiving care. 

In an effort to prevent further spread, roommates and high-risk contacts are being closely monitored.

We are working with our Public Health partners and closely monitoring the situation. Enhanced infection control protocols are in place as we take swift action to halt the spread of the virus. In response, we are taking the following steps:

  • Increased surveillance, and enhanced infection prevention and control measures including audits, and hand hygiene audits.
  • All staff are following respiratory outbreak protocols and wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Home wide universal masking (surgical mask) has been implemented for all staff and visitors.
