Respiratory Outbreak Declared Over at Lee Manor on 2 North and 2 South
Update March 28, 2023 - The respiratory outbreak on the 2 North and 2 South home areas at Lee Manor have been declared over. The diligence and commitment of our team members, along with the support from our designated care partners and families was truly impactful as we managed this outbreak. The strength of our community is outstanding, and we are grateful for the impact each member has on the health, safety, and wellbeing of our residents. Grey Bruce Public Health were vital partners in the management of the outbreak, and we are thankful for their support and hard work.
The safety of our residents, families, and staff remains are our primary focus, and we will continue with the following protocols:
- Regular infection prevention and control audits
- Hand hygiene audits
- Daily screening and rapid antigen testing for all staff, students, support workers, volunteers, designated care partners, and indoor visitors.
Please continue to follow the 3Ws: Wash your hands frequently; Watch your distance (ideally 6 feet); and Wear masks correctly. Please do not visit the home if you are feeling unwell.
Update March 26, 2023 - The respiratory outbreak on the 3 South home area at Lee Manor has been declared over.
Since our last update, there are two new residents experiencing symptoms on the 2 South home area, Public Health has reviewed the cases and the 2 South outbreak which was declared over yesterday has now been re-activated. Outbreak protocols are in place for the 2 South and 2 North home areas, the following measures are in place:
- Increased surveillance, and enhanced infection prevention and control measures.
- Infection prevention & control audits, and hand hygiene audits.
- All staff are following respiratory outbreak protocols and wearing the appropriate PPE as required.
- Visiting is reduced to one (1) Designated Care Partner (DCP) per visit for residents in isolation on the outbreak home areas. Residents who are not in isolation, but live on an outbreak home area may have a general visitor or DCP, (1) per visit. As we continue to work through the outbreak on 2 North, we ask that general visitors refrain from visiting on this home area.
- DCPs and general visitors are required to wear their masks at all times during their visit on the affected home areas.

Update March 25, 2023 - The respiratory outbreak on the 2 South home area at Lee Manor has been declared over.
Outbreak protocols remain in place for the 2 North, and 3 South home areas, the following measures are in place:
- Increased surveillance, and enhanced infection prevention and control measures.
- Infection prevention & control audits, and hand hygiene audits.
- All staff are following respiratory outbreak protocols and wearing the appropriate PPE as required.
- As a reminder, visiting is reduced to (1) Designated Care Partner (DCP) per visit for residents in isolation on the outbreak home areas. Residents who are not in isolation, but live on an outbreak home area may have a general visitor or DCP, (1) per visit. As we continue to work through the outbreak on 2 North, we ask that general visitors refrain from visiting on this home area.

Update March 13, 2023, 8:00 a.m. - On March 12, the Respiratory Outbreak on 1 South at Lee Manor was declared over. We would like to thank Grey Bruce Public Health for their assistance in managing the outbreak. The teamwork at Lee Manor has been remarkable, and we thank them for their dedication and commitment.
Outbreak protocols remain in place for the 2 South, 2 North, and 3 South home areas
Updated March 9, 2023, 4:30 p.m. - Public Health has declared a respiratory outbreak on the 3 South home area. There are three residents experiencing symptoms. One test result has returned which has identified the agent as rhinovirus (common cold), with two test results still pending. All residents with symptoms are isolating and receiving care.
Outbreak protocols are in place for the 1 South, 2 South, 2 North, and 3 South home areas.
Updated March 8, 2023, 4:00 p.m. - Public Health has expanded the respiratory outbreak to the 2 South home area at Lee Manor. There are two new resident cases on 2 South, and the residents are isolating and receiving care. One test result has been confirmed as Human Metapneumovirus (similar to the common cold) with one test result still pending.
Outbreak protocols are in place for the 1 South, 2 South, and 2 North home areas.
On March 6th, Public Health declared a respiratory outbreak on the 1 South and 2 North home areas at Lee Manor. There are currently six residents experiencing respiratory symptoms, they are isolating and receiving care, (two active resident cases on 1 South and four active resident cases on 2 North). The residents have been tested for COVID-19, as well as other respiratory viruses. Test results have returned negative for COVID-19, and the viruses that have been identified are Human Metapneumovirus (1 South) and Seasonal Coronavirus and Human Metapneumovirus (2 North), both viruses are similar to the common cold.
We are working with our Public Health partners and monitoring the situation closely. The home has activated their outbreak protocols and the following enhancements are in place to help manage the outbreak:
- Increased surveillance, and enhanced infection prevention and control measures.
- Infection prevention & control audits, and hand hygiene audits.
- All staff are following respiratory outbreak protocols and wearing the appropriate PPE as required.
- Designated Care Partners are reduced to one (1) DCP per resident visit for residents in isolation. DCPs are required to wear their masks at all times during their visit and will be provided the appropriate PPE.
