Update October 10, 2021-

We have received confirmation from Public Health that a staff member at Rockwood Terrace has tested positive for COVID-19. This staff member was proactive and immediately accessed surveillance testing as soon as the onset of symptoms and was directed to self-isolate while waiting results.  Public Health has assessed the situation and no further action is required at this time. All parties are closely monitoring the situation.  This is an isolated case and not linked to the ongoing respiratory outbreak.

Rhinovirus (Common Cold) Respiratory Outbreak Update

Rockwood Terrace continues to experience a respiratory outbreak (Rhinovirus, common cold) on 3rd floor. There is now a resident with similar symptoms on 2nd floor and Public Health has implemented outbreak measures for the entire building to reduce the risk of further spread.

We continue to work closely with Public Health and ensure thorough infection control protocols are in place to keep our residents and staff safe.

The following precautions are in place:

  1. All residents are isolated and staff are dedicated to the home area.
  2. All general visits (in-home, outdoor and window) are suspended. If you had a visit scheduled, please consider it cancelled. Virtual visits can still be arranged through www.grey.ca.
  3. Designated Care Partners (DCP) have been reduced to 1 DCP  per resident visit on all home areas.
  4. Essential visitors are still permitted (palliative or critically ill).
  5. Short term absences are on hold.
