September 14 Meeting Highlights

Grey County Council met on Thursday, September 14 at 9:30 a.m. in the council chambers. The council meeting was immediately followed by a session of committee of the whole.

  • Council passed the minutes of the August 24 Council Meeting and the August 11 Committee of the Whole meeting.  Council   Committee

Committee of the Whole

  • Council heard a deputation from Pam Hillier, Executive Director with 211, regarding the launch of the new Bruce Grey Community Info web portal. This new online service was created in partnership between Grey County, Bruce County and Community Connection (211). It gives users access to a rich database of health, social and other services. Explore it yourself at https://brucegreycommunityinfo.cioc.ca/.
  • Council learned more about the process and timelines for moving to a direct election of warden. This change would require triple majority support (majority of county councillors, and the majority of local municipalities representing the majority or residents). The report will be shared with the local municipalities and Grey County will request their decisions by October 16, 2017.  Grey County will discuss direct election of the warden again at the October 26 committee of the whole meeting.   • Grey County will begin recording council meetings in 2018. Council voted to proceed with a single camera approach.  Report
  • Council received a report explaining the procedure around separating a question according to Robert’s Rules of Order. Report 
  • Grey County approved the new Grey Highlands Official Plan.  Report
  • Grey County approved the plan of subdivision for 267 residential units in Southgate. This plan is known as Flato North.  Report
  • The minutes of the September 6 Economic Development Planning Advisory Committee meeting were approved. Minutes
  • Council discussed the letter received from a group of past wardens regarding the recent long term care decision. Letter   Response
