Storm Spotter Training Moving to OSDSS
Environment Canada’s CANWARN Storm Spotter Training is moving to Owen Sound District Secondary School (formerly West Hill Secondary School). Up to 280 seats are now available and can be booked online through a link on Grey County’s website www.grey.ca.
“For reasons beyond our control we needed to change our venue again,” said Rob Hatten, Communications Officer. “However, there is good news. Now even more weather enthusiasts will have a chance to participate.”
Grey County staff are reaching out to registrants to advise them of the location change. Another notification will be sent out on the day of the event.
“We also want to thank the OSDSS and the Bluewater District School Board for accommodating the move on short notice,” said Hatten.
CANWARN volunteers share local weather details with the Ontario Storm Prediction Centre. This information gives meteorologists a good sense of which storms may produce damaging weather like hail, flooding or event tornadoes. The training will be led by Geoff Coulson, Warning Preparedness Meteorologist.
