Update: COVID-19 Outbreak Declared Over January 15
Update January 15, 2023
We are pleased to report that the 3rd floor COVID-19 outbreak has been declared over on the 3 South and 3 North home areas. We would like to thank Grey Bruce Public Health for their assistance in managing the outbreak. Visiting has now resumed on the 3rd floor for Designated Care Partners and general visitors. We continue to support the Chief Medical Officer's recommendation, and strongly encourage caregivers and general visitors wear their mask at all times during their visit.
The team at Lee Manor continues their dedication and commitment with managing the respiratory outbreak on the 1 South home area, and outbreak protocols remain in place for 1 South.
We continue to focus on the safety of our residents, families, and staff. Infection prevention and control measures remain in place. As a precaution, we will continue with the following protocols:
- Hand hygiene audits
- Daily rapid antigen testing for all staff, students, support workers, volunteers, Designated Care Partners, and indoor visitors.

Update December 29 -
Public Health has expanded the COVID-19 outbreak to the 3rd floor North home area at Lee Manor. There is 1 confirmed positive resident case, with 3 resident test results pending, and now both home areas on the 3rd floor are operating in outbreak protocols. We are working closely with Public Health to manage the outbreak on the 3rd floor.
In addition we have the following details to share:
- Enhanced infection prevention and control measures, and monitoring for new symptoms in all residents and staff in all home areas.
- All symptomatic residents and high risk contacts on the 3rd floor are isolating, and receiving care.
- Designated Care Partner (DCP) visits are limited to one visitor per resident for 3 South and 3 North.
- DCPs are required to wear N95 masks and eye protection which will be provided upon arrival.
- All general visits to the 3rd floor are suspended.
- All staff are wearing N95 masks and eye protection on the home areas in outbreak.
- Residents are being encouraged to wear masks as tolerated.
- HEPA filter units have been strategically placed on the home areas to maximize air quality.
- Weekly infection prevention and control audits, and additional Hand Hygiene Audits.
- Outbreak management meetings are being held daily.

Public Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak on the 3 South home area. There are currently 3 confirmed resident cases, and 4 resident test results pending. All symptomatic residents and close contacts are isolating, receiving care, and in room meal service is being provided.
Enhanced infection control protocols are in place as we take swift action to halt the spread of the virus. We are working closely with our Public Health partners, and the safety and wellbeing of our residents and staff is our highest priority.
In response, we are taking the following steps:
- Enhanced monitoring for new symptoms in all residents and staff in the outbreak area.
- Weekly infection prevention and control audits, and additional Hand Hygiene Audits.
- All staff are wearing N95 masks, eye protection and additional PPE as required on the affected home area.
- Designated Care Partner visits are limited to one (1) visitor per resident on 3 South.
- General visits are suspended for 3 South.
- HEPA filter units have been strategically placed on both home areas to maximize air quality.
We realize the timing of these restrictions is heartbreaking, but it is critical we use the tools we have to protect our residents and our workforce at this critical time.
