Become a Licensed Home Child Care Provider

As a Licensed Home Child Care Provider with Grey County, you have:

• The ability to care for six children (including any children of your own under the age of four)
• Access to funds to assist with start-up costs
• Ongoing support from Registered Early Childhood Educators
• Agency assistance with enrolment procedures
• Biweekly payment for agency placed children and Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care Plan payments
• Access to the Early Learning Hub that has resources and materials providers can sign out for use in their program at no additional cost
• Ongoing professional development and training opportunities

What is required to be a Licensed Home Child Care Provider?

To become a licensed home child care provider, you must meet a number of criteria set by the Ministry of Education. These include:

• A smoke free home
• A home insurance policy with a $2 million liability
• Current Standard First Aid with Infant/Child CPR
• A clear criminal reference check, including vulnerable sector screen, for everyone in the home over the age of 19
• Completed fire inspection by a local fire department.
• Completed health assessment

Grey County Home Child Care agency is a participant in the Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care Plan, which helps increase access to affordable, quality, licensed child care across the province by allowing families with children under the age of 6 to pay reduced fees for child care.
